ANSA) - BOLZANO, 5 DIC - La Fis decidera' entro sabato sullo svolgimento di supergigante e discesa di CdM uomini di sci, del 15 e 16 dicembre in Val Gardena. La decisione definitiva sara' presa dopo un nuovo sopralluogo ma da un primo controllo la neve artificiale e' sufficiente per la copertura della linea di gara e per le zone di caduta. Cosi' le infrastrutture di sicurezza possono essere messe in opera. Le previsioni del tempo per i prossimi giorni prevedono un'evoluzione positiva.

The International ski Federation confirmed Tuesday that World Cup ski races in Val Gardena scheduled for Dec. 15-16 will go ahead _ for now _ despite a lack of natural snow. The federation (FIS) said in a statement that enough artificial snow for the course and crash zones had been produced for the men's super-G and downhill races.
Low temperatures are forecast for the course this weekend to aid artificial snow production, but a final decision will made Saturday at the latest.
A shortage of snow across the Alps has wreaked havoc with the beginning of the ski season. The season opener in Soelden, Austria, was wiped out in October, and men's and women's stops in Val d'Isere, France, and St. Moritz, Switzerland, this weekend were canceled.
One of the races from Val d'Isere, a super-combi, will be contested in Reiteralm, Austria, on Sunday.

Canadian Stefan Guay had to be flown off of the slopes after sustaining a knee injury in Wednesday's first training run on Val Gardena's downhill.
Team officials said that Guay would not likely return until next season after the team doctor's initial diagnosis showed "likeliness of a torn anterior cruciate ligament of his right knee."
"It is very unfortunate to see an athlete the calibre of Stefan gets injured in preparation for Friday's Super G race. Unfortunately, these type of injuries are too common in our sport," said Max Gartner, the Chief Athletics Officer for Canada's ski racing governing body.
"We are confident that with his determination and intensity, Stefan will be back in top shape next season to compete on the World Cup tour."
The 20-year-old Stefan, brother of veteran speedster Erik Guay, is the junior world champion in the giant slalom discipline.
His only World Cup finish in six races was a 25th place at Lake Louise's super-G last month.

Sabato è nata infatti Luce Benetton E' nata Luce Benetton, terzogenita di Deborah Compagnoni e di Alessandro Benetton. Il parto, secondo quanto si è appreso, non ha avuto problemi. Luce è il terzo figlio della coppia dopo Agnese e Tobias. AUGURI!!!!!!!......ma un nome normale no????
