26/01/2008] - A broken thumb can't stop Denise Karbon
Five wins in six races. Italy's Denise Karbon does not seem to mind the injury occurred during training on Wednesday. She broke her left thumb but this fact could not prevent her from posting her fifth giant slalom win of the season in Ofterschwang on Saturday. She was only ninth at the end of the first leg but, with a quite impressive second one, she took first with a combined time of two minutes 22.26 seconds. Overall leader Nicole Hosp could not manage the huge advantage of 1:09 seconds she had on Karbon and had to be content with a second place 0.08 seconds behind.
Her teammate Elizabeth Goergl finished third one more hundredth of a second back.
