| Austria's Reinfried Herbst clocked the fastest time in both runs on Saturday's slalom in Garmisch-Partenkirchen to claim the second world cup victory of his career. Manfred Moelgg of Italy was second 0,65 behind, while Croatia's Ivica Kostelic finished third.
Overall leader Bode Miller failed to finish the first run allowing Benni Raich, who could not do better than a 11th place, to get closer and reduce the gap to 98 points.
