Inviato - 18 nov 2009 : 22:44:03 After the Levi weekend, Moscow will see the 2nd edition of the Audi FIS Alpine Ski Champions Cup taking place this Saturday on November 21st 2009, before both the ladies' and men's tours will head to North America. Currently final preparations on the approximately 200 meters ramp are underway and since November 16th, the organizers work in three shifts around-the-clock to make sure all will be ready for the 2nd city parallel slalom promotional event on Saturday night.
According to Hans Pieren, FIS Race Director for the men's technical events, the preparations on the ramp go according to plan although the rain combined with unusually warm temperatures (above 10°C on Sunday, November 15th) in recent days pose certain challenges. The preparations on the ramp and the distribution of the snow were delayed to avoid the snow melting away. The snow used for the ramp is partially brought in from the modern Snow Dome Krasnogorsk, Moscow's ample new indoor ski facility and partially produced on site by several snow guns.
We will see a strong field and the athletes and coaches are all very excited for the big showdown this Saturday. Hans Pieren even overheard some athletes talking on the charter flight back from Levi about how excited they were to participate in this special event including Reinfried Herbst who has won the men's World Cup slalom opener at Levi.
